Open Day's In 2001

Now that the foot and mouth restrictions have been lifted from the lake side area (and it is a bit warmer) we will be holding our second open day on Saturday 16th June. This time we are aiming for a bigger and better event - we are teaming up with the Devon Windsurf & Canoe Center and the Decoy Park Rangers to hold a water sports gala.

Although the exact details are yet to be arranged the club will be available to take out members of the public out onto the lake with an experience sailor, serving refreshments and hopefully repeating the very popular Bar-B-Q. The Windsurf Center will be offering discounts on some of their services and the park rangers will be arranging lake side activities. Details will be added to this site as we have them.

Report From The First Open Day (1st April)
Our first club open day went well and was enjoyed by all who attended. There was some interest shown from the public with a number of people taking advantage of the chance to have a sail on the lake (and we managed to keep them dry!)

Luck was with us for the weather and the rain held off all day, there was even a reasonable amount of wind at times. During the second race of the day, for a bit of fun, some of the club members swapped boats and there were a few nervous faces when the wind came up, not knowing what to expect from the strange boat.

Many thanks go out to everyone who helped out on the day, especially to Brian and Helen for arranging the Bar-B-Q and Pauline for arranging the refreshments.
